"White Lace" - Anna Marinova

"White Lace",  one of my favourite oil paintings by Anna Marinova, is looking for a new home.

As for all of her beautifully painted girls, Anna uses live models to execute her work.

For "White Lace", Anna chose Anastasia Antoshechkina to model for the execution of this work. Anna sent me a photograph of Anastasia modelling for this painting, and is easy to understand why "White Lace" turned out to be such a beautiful and delightful piece of art.

Anna Marinova shared with me some stages of the execution of "White Lace". Even in its preliminary stages, "White Lace" already had the allure of a great master's painting.

When I asked Anna Marinova to explain "White Lace", here is what she had to say: 

"In the painting "White Lace" I tried to get away from frank eroticism to the pure aesthetic delight of a young romantic girl. The purity and chastity of the image is emphasized with motive delicate white lace. In this work, I excluded the explicit details that give the painting a purely erotic enticement. All the sensual aspects are focused to achieve maximum concentration of reality and palpably tactile fabrics of different texture, women's hair, intercepted silk ribbon and golden skin. I accepted the challenge to paint her and to convey subtle shades of white draperies. We wanted to make a living material and a thin lace pattern of flowers and leaves, a challenging task even for a skilled worker, almost falling into a meditative state, working on the intricate weave. Truly everything in this painting is magical."
